Bamboo craft training brings a smile to the face of people of the remote village along Indo-Nepal border

At a time when people of Bihar are facing challenges of making their both ends meet in this infection-ridden era coupled with devastating floods, residents of the remote village Bhittamore along Indo-Nepal border of Sursand in Sitamarhi have another reason to smile as Patna-based Yuganter has imparted bamboo and cane craft training being sponsored by NABARD to generate livelihood options.

Yuganter in collaboration with NABARD carried out 28-days of rigorous bamboo and cane craft training under the sheer guidance of noted trainer Mantun Kumar Sharma of prestigious Upendra Maharathi Shilp Anusandhan Sansthan to over 40 participants, the majority of them hailing from marginalized sections. The cause neutral and community-centric organization has also been providing lunch to all the participants during the training.

The training was started on December 8, 2021 at Bhittamore with the august presence of Mr Sanjay Chaudhary, DDM NABARD, Lalbahadur Paswan, LDM, Sunil Kumar Mahto, Director, RCTI, trainer Mantun Kumar Sharma, Yuganter Programme Manager Amar Kumar Sharma, Bhithamore Shrikhandi Panchayat Samiti Member, Sarpanch, etc among others.

Displaying their artistic acumen, the people of this small village poured in hard work with a high degree of sincerity and concentration to create a variety of marvellous bamboo crafts in such a short period. No doubt, Bhittamore will become the treasure trove of bamboo crafts in days to come if NABARD extends financial support and disburses the loan to the people to set up this new business at their own houses.

This job-oriented training session was concluded on January 11, 2022, with participants showcasing their hundreds of beautiful items which were purchased by Yuganter itself. They were very glad to know that the money would be transferred to their accounts.
